The Florida Keys are just a little bit south of the real world. A lot of our visitors come back year after year for the luxury of doing nothing at all. Here in the Keys, we call that living on island time.

Of course, if you'd like a bit more activity, we're happy to oblige. With the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Florida Bay surrounding us, the Florida Keys are one of the world's premier destinations for water sports. Anglers can test their skills in fishing tournaments year-round, while divers and snorkelers can explore North America's only living coral reef. Landlubbers can even tour the reef without ever getting wet, on a glass bottom boat tour.

Explore the Keys' native flora and fauna at one of our National Wildlife Refuges or State Parks. Take a trip back in time to experience island life a hundred years ago at Lignumvitae Key State Park and Indian Key State Park. For the ultimate out-of-the-way detour, set sail (or hop aboard a planned tour) to Fort Jefferson, a Civil War-era army prison, once considered the most remote location in the United States.
